The tram
Bonn street scene
We really enjoyed our afternoon in Bonn. The sun even showed itself! The train station is very central, and just a short walk away is the cathedral, which is a big, beautifully Romanesque structure. I like it a lot.

Cologne gets all the glory in these parts so I didn't expect much of Bonn, but it is actually quite a historic city with some good old buildings. It was also the capital of West Germany and the birthplace of Beethoven.

The Christmas market at Bonn was fabulous. We once again made a lunch of it, which works great since it's both cheap and filling. And an integral part of our cultural immersion, of course! I had more potato cakes with applesauce followed by a warm, soft pretzel. David had a sausage on a roll and some hot roasted almonds. It was all seriously delicious.
